Design

Project Downtown Pullman will create people-centric spaces, improve accessibility, and repair aging infrastructure in one single construction period.
Driven by community input, the concept design for Project Downtown Pullman centered on the over-arching goal of creating more space in downtown Pullman for people-centric activities. This includes wider sidewalks to maximize space for people walking between businesses or enjoying a meal at a sidewalk table, improved public gathering areas, and street design that slowed traffic speeds and balances the needs of pedestrians and bicyclists with vehicular traffic in downtown Pullman.
At this time, improvements have been prioritized to utilities, street, sidewalk, and streetscape elements on Main Street. Some modifications are planned for the Pine Street Plaza, as well as Pine Street and Kamiaken Streets between Main and Paradise Streets. No work is planned for Grand Avenue, due to budget constraints.
